The Workflow action 'Hours Recorded' now allows for selecting a particular Event Group for those hours. Previously the only additional option was selecting the User Group of the person getting hours.
This new ability adds a lot of possibilities, chiefly among them onboarding. Previously if you wanted to build automation to move all who completed orientation to the next step of onboarding, that was only possible with this workflow if those users only had access to sign up for onboarding--they couldn't also have access to special events (for example), as those hours recorded to trigger the workflow may have been a special event.
With the ability to specify the Event Group for those hours, more flexible onboarding automations may be built.
Example 1: Simple Onboarding
When any user gets hours for an event in the 'Orientation' Event Group, remove them from 'New Applicants Orientation' and add them to 'Approved Volunteers'.
Assuming an organization has Advanced Permissions as part of their plan--the system could be configured to allow all new users access to Orientation as well as other opportunities which don't require any training, such as special events. The workflow would then automatically move all who complete orientation to the approved group--granting access to a larger list of available events.
Example 2: Multi-Path Onboarding
Perhaps an organization has multiple types of training for different roles. They may set up their site to allow all new users access to all the trainings as well as the opportunities which do not require any training. Then, should a volunteer attend one of the trainings, the system will automatically move them to that approved group (or next step of the training) specific to the training they attended.
Volunteer View: Keep Your Place
When navigating through a list of Events in Volunteer View, should you click on an opportunity and then click the 'back' button in the browser, the site will now return you to where you were in the list. Previously upon clicking 'back', users were returned to the top of the list.
The Custom Event Registrations Report has been optimized to be more responsive for organizations running the report with a very large number of results.
