You can track any desired member proficiencies in SkyManager. By default, several proficiencies (e.g., TSA Review) will already exist in a new SkyManager site, but you can edit or remove these as well as add new proficiencies in the system.

Begin by clicking on System Configuration in the Control Panel on the right side of the Home Page (Figure 1).

Figure 1. Member Proficiencies can be added under System Configuration.

Next, click on the Member Proficiencies link. This will take you to the Member Proficiencies page, which lists all proficiencies currently in the system (Figure 2).

Figure 2. You can easily view, edit and add member proficiencies in SkyManager.

You can edit an existing proficiency or create your own. Click on the add link at the bottom of the page to create your own proficiency and add it to the list. This will open a pop-up window for you to define the parameters around your new proficiency (Figure 3).

Figure 3. Create the parameters around your new member proficiency.

Enter a name for the new proficiency as well as a description. For example, the default proficiencies already in the system all have "Valid until" in the Description field.

Next, determine if you would like to require this proficiency for pilots and/or instructors for them to have the ability to check out (dispatch) flights. Unfulfilled or outdated proficiencies may block a member from checking out a flight. If the proficiency is set to "Yes, always," dispatch will fail if the proficiency is not met or is out of date, even if that member is not the Pilot in Command (PIC). If the proficiency is set to be required only if the member is PIC ("Yes, when PIC"), then the proficiency will only be required for dispatch if that member is selected as the PIC. The PIC will be whomever meets all required proficiencies (either the student or the instructor).

Finally, you can allow your member to update the proficiency on their own, or manually update it as an admin on the user's behalf by selecting "No." When finished, click the Save Proficiency button. There is no limit as to the number of proficiencies you can create in the system.

If you made the proficiency "Member Updateable," an alert will be displayed to the member in the User Panel on the left side of the Home Page when the proficiency's expiration is approaching or has already passed. In addition, a link will be provided where the user can update his or her proficiencies, as discussed in section 2 of the Operations manual.
