Reporting New Discrepancies

In the interest of safety, SkyManager allows any registered user to report a Maintenance Discrepancy by default, though this feature can be set to be accessed by certain users.

To report a maintenance discrepancy, click on the Go... link under the Report a Discrepancy heading in the upper-right corner of the Home Page (Figure 1).

Figure 1. Any user can report a discrepancy by default.

The Discrepancy Window will appear (Figure 2).

Figure 2. Provide details regarding the maintenance issue.

Select the aircraft for which you are reporting a maintenance discrepancy from the Aircraft drop-down menu and provide a description of the discrepancy in the Problem Description field. If the aircraft is suitable for flight, select the "Informational Only” option from the Severity field. Select “Down Aircraft” if the aircraft is not suitable for flight. When finished, click on the Report Maintenance Discrepancy button. Any Maintenance users in the system will receive an automatic email notifying them of the reported maintenance discrepancy.

View Existing Discrepancies

If your user account has sufficient permissions (e.g., you are an administrator or maintenance member), you will be able to view and follow up on existing discrepancies. First, click on the Maintenance Discrepancies link under Administrative Tools on the right side of the Home Page (Figure 3).

Figure 3. View and follow up on maintenance discrepancies.

You will then see a list of all open discrepancies (Figure 4).

Figure 4. View and manage all open discrepancies.

From this page, you can filter the visible discrepancies by aircraft or choose whether or not to show resolved discrepancies using the options on the left side of the page by making your selections and clicking the Apply Filter button. You can also follow up on a discrepancy to provide more details (e.g., found missing bolt) or resolve the discrepancy (e.g., replaced door handle). To add a follow-up, click on the Add Follow-Up to this Discrepancy link in the lower-right area of the discrepancy. This will open the Add Follow-Up window (Figure 5).

Figure 5. Add a follow-up to the maintenance discrepancy.

From this window, you can change the priority of the maintenance discrepancy (5 is the highest priority and is used for downed aircraft, while 1 is the lowest priority). If you're following up to indicate that the maintenance issue has been resolved, choose "Resolved" from the Priority field.

Any aircraft with a priority level of 4 or 5 will be listed in red in the online schedule and will be downed (will not be able to be reserved).

You can also change whether the discrepancy is visible to all users or visible only to maintenance staff. Provide a comment if necessary, and choose whether the comment is a normal comment or should be seen by administrators only. Finally, decide whether the discrepancy requires any restrictions to be put on the aircraft, which will limit the reservation capability for the aircraft. When finished, click the Add Follow-Up to Discrepancy button.

Discrepancies that have been resolved will be removed from the page unless the Include Resolved box on the left side of the page is checked.

The Aircraft Proficiency report in the Report Gallery is particularly useful for maintenance, showing the state of your entire fleet at a glance with current information for each aircraft (e.g., scheduled maintenance issues and timeline).
